Wandering or Wanderlust?
Coming from a household that valued travel as one of the best teachers, I've travelled a lot. Guess 21 years in the aviation industry kinda made that happen without a lot of planning. While those days were wonderful, they are over. These days I spend more time on the ground with less exotic experiences.
Thankfully I've not had callousing incidents that can come from difficult travel. No, it's not all been 5 star experiences (there were a few of those along the way). Whether top shelf or down home, it's rarely the journey that is memorable but the insight and relavance that comes from getting outside the day-to-day routine of Western life. The outcome of these experiences is a mantra of sorts: see our world through the traveller's eye - with respect, eagerness and joy for the unexpected.
